Singularity Date is not a lottery. It is not speculation. It is the first serious, collective, and documented attempt to answer the most important scientific question of our time: when, exactly, did Artificial General Intelligence emerge?
The scientific consensus is clear: AGI will not arrive with a press release. It will be identified retrospectively — the same way we date recessions, extinctions, or the beginning of geological eras. Only years after the fact, when enough indicators converge, will we be able to say: it happened here.
This project builds that instrument. The I-AGI Index — a composite of five independently measurable pillars — is designed to detect the inflection point with academic rigour. Every donation funds the measurement infrastructure. Every prediction becomes part of the historical record. Every patron shapes the methodology.
We are not gambling on the future. We are documenting it.
RULE 1 — ELIGIBILITY
Participation is open to any natural person aged 18 or over, or any legal entity, in any jurisdiction where such participation is not prohibited by local law. It is the participant's sole responsibility to verify their eligibility. Singularity Date accepts no liability for participation in restricted jurisdictions.
RULE 2 — THE PREDICTION
Each participant submits exactly one calendar date (day, month, year) as their predicted date of AGI confirmation. The date must be on or after July 1, 2027, which the scientific community's current lower bound. Predictions are binding and irrevocable upon payment confirmation.
RULE 3 — THE DONATION
The minimum donation is USD $5. All donations are irrevocable. Each donation purchases one participation slot and one prediction. Multiple donations may be made to register multiple predictions (each requiring a separate payment). No prediction is valid without a confirmed donation.
RULE 4 — THE PRIZE POOL
85% of every donation, net of payment processing fees, is allocated to the prize pool. The remaining 15% funds platform operations, methodology research, legal compliance, and administration. The prize pool balance is published in real time and auditable upon request.
RULE 5 — THE DETERMINATION EVENT
The "Singularity Date" is officially declared when the Methodology Council, by supermajority vote (≥ 75%), determines that the I-AGI Index has sustainably exceeded the threshold score of 70/100 across at least three consecutive measurement periods. The declaration must be independently reviewed by at least two external academic institutions before it becomes binding. The official date declared will be the first measurement period in which the threshold was first crossed.
RULE 6 — WINNERS
All participants whose submitted date falls within a ±30-day window of the officially declared Singularity Date are considered winners. If no participant falls within ±30 days, the window expands to ±90 days. If still no match, the prize pool rolls over and the contest continues. The prize pool is divided equally among all winners. There is no cap on the number of winners.
RULE 7 — PRIZE DISTRIBUTION
Winners will be contacted exclusively via the email address registered at the time of donation. It is the participant's sole responsibility to ensure their contact email remains accessible. Singularity Date will make three contact attempts over 60 days. Unclaimed prizes after 60 days roll back into the prize pool. Prizes are paid via international bank transfer or cryptocurrency (winner's choice). Winners are solely responsible for any applicable taxes in their jurisdiction.
RULE 8 — IDENTIFICATION
Winners must verify their identity by providing a copy of the official ID document whose name matches the full name submitted at registration. Anonymous or pseudonymous registrations are accepted for participation but will be disqualified from prize collection if identity cannot be verified.
RULE 9 — DATA AND PRIVACY
Participant names, emails, and predicted dates are stored securely and never sold to third parties. Full name and predicted date will be published in the public historical archive, unless the participant has explicitly opted out in writing prior to the declaration event. Email addresses are never published. Participants who accept the newsletter consent to a maximum of one email per calendar month.
RULE 10 — METHODOLOGY INTEGRITY
The I-AGI Index methodology is published openly. The Methodology Council operates independently. No single patron, sponsor, or data partner can unilaterally alter the methodology. Any methodology change requires a supermajority Council vote and a 30-day public comment period. All votes are published.
RULE 11 — FORCE MAJEURE AND DISCONTINUATION
In the event that Singularity Date must cease operations before a declaration event, the entire prize pool (less documented operational costs already incurred) will be distributed equally among all registered participants. This obligation survives the termination of the project and will be enforced by an independent escrow arrangement.
RULE 12 — GOVERNING LAW
These rules are governed by the laws of [JURISDICTION TO BE CONFIRMED WITH LEGAL COUNSEL]. Any dispute will be submitted to binding arbitration under [ARBITRATION RULES]. Participation constitutes acceptance of these rules in their entirety.
RULE 13 — AMENDMENTS
These rules may be updated to comply with new legal requirements or to correct material errors. Any substantive change will be notified to all registered participants by email at least 30 days before taking effect. Participants who object may request a full refund of their donation within the 30-day notice period — this is the only circumstance under which refunds are issued.
